  1. MetS criteria were: elevated waist circumference (≥ 90 cm in men and ≥ 80 cm in women), elevated triglycerides (≥ 150 mg/dl or 1.7 mmol/l) or drug treatment for elevated triglyceride, reduced HDL-C (< 40 mg/dl or 1.0 mmol/l in males and < 50 mg/dl or 1.3 mmol/l) in females or drug treatment for reduced HDL-C, elevated blood pressure (systolic ≥ 130 or diastolic ≥ 85 mmHg) or antihypertensive drug treatment in a patient with a history of hypertension, and elevated fasting plasma glucose (≥ 100 mg/dl) or drug treatment for elevated glucose [18]. p-values were calculated using the two-tails Fisher's exact test on male with MetS vs female with MetS.
