DSS inhibits the activity of Taq polymerase. A) RNA from non-DSS-treated tissue was reverse transcribed, the cDNA was incubated in vitro with DSS, and the amplification of 36B4 was assessed by qPCR. Incubation with 0.01 g/L DSS triggered a small but significant decrease in the amplification of 36B4, and 0.05 g/L and higher concentrations of DSS fully inhibited the amplification of 36B4 by qPCR.
